Obama talked about how he’s gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.
He bowled a 129, the president said.
“That’s very good, Mr. President,” Leno said sarcastically.
It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president said.
Obama, in his taping with Jay Leno Thursday afternoon, attempted to make fun of himself, and ended up insulting the disabled.
It was a mistake for the President to characterize his bowling prowess in that way if indeed he said that. but I'm willing to bet you that almost all the Special Olympians would be willing to forgive him if he apologized and then spent some time this year supporting the Special Olympics.
I'm confident that it wasn't a malicious remark however unflattering it may be. the President is human and he made a mistake. I don't know what else you would want him to say except that's he sorry for the unintended insult to the Special Olympics.
i dont think it was so much of an insult. the special olympics are scored on a lower skill level for people who are not able to comepte on a higher level. those disabilities may be physical or mental, or whatever, and they have competitions accordingly. he said it may be the special olymipics because of his low score as compared to someone who can score higher. he did not say disabled people can not score higher, but the nature of the game has the score on a lower level. you people give Obama such a hard time, its ridiculus, Geesh, he cant even make fun of himself.
The same people who are being all scandalized and outraged over this are also the ones who nod their heads in hypnotized agreement when little Rushie Limbaugh says that anybody who develops addictions to Rx drugs should be locked away.
And yet … Rushie himself committed fraud to try to cover up his own addiction to Lorcet, Norco and hydrocodone.
Their hypocrisy is so obvious and callow that it's funnier than Jay Leno could ever be.
It was a gaffe.

I agree with the other pollster. Republicans, why is it okay for Hannity, Limbaugh, and Glen Beck to make much crueler remarks? Bush made gaffes almost daily; he was not crtitisized the way President Obama is. Republicans: why do you sit and wait for the president to make a minor gaffe and then sabotage him for it? you should accept (and respect) the fact the Obama is our new president and move on. Get a life, please.

I really do not know what he was thinking. Next time, he should think before he speaks. he insulted many people that have special needs, including my brother who participates in the special olympics. I am appalled that he would say such a thing. very, very, insulting.
Yet, Dick Morris uses the word retarded about himself failing to understand something and he gets attacked by some idiot liberal actor who had to make a big deal about it. Obama on the other hand can say whatever he wants. His loyal followers defend him unwittingly to their own death.

It's NOT just a mistake and it's NOT just a poor choice of words. It's evidence of the derision that Mr. Obama feels about disabled people.
He "makes fun" of himself by calling himself a Special Olympian. That means he thinks Special Olympians are some how LESS than he is.
Let's just all admit that right now. He's an Ivy Leaguer and he thinks anybody who can't be as intelligent as he is less of a human being. and he really DOES want to see all potentially special-needs kids aborted before they are born. and he even wants to see disabled people euthanized (that means KILLED, folks). HE was all in favor of Terri Schiavo being starved to death, just because she was disabled and needed somebody to feed her.
He is an elitist snob who is prejudiced against people with disabilities. God help you if you ever suffer a disabling injury, because this president will NOT protect your right to life. God help all women if he should be president long enough to mandate abortions for potentially disabled fetuses through his health care reform.
